In an industry like fashion where everything has to look perfect it seems that Photoshop really is vital. Sure, the critiques about the excessive use of photo retouching make sense but let’s face it, Photoshop helps to make the end result more professional and more pleasing to the eye!

Dolce & Gabbana FW09 by Steven Klein

However, there are sometimes where photo retouching doesn’t seem very professional.. and those are photoshop disasters! So here’s a selection!

Banana Republic's Photoshop Disaster

Above is an image featured in Banana Republic‘s monthly Newsletter. The poor female model’s legs look tortured! The right leg is missing a knee and the left one, should have one but is covered from the other model which makes the female model look like an unflattering flamengo! 25% discount on clothes is ok, but on body parts is maybe a little to excessive!

Victoria's Secret Mistake

Victoria’s Secret, symbol of body perfection doesn’t seem to be as perfect here! The model’s legs have quite an unnatural shape don’t they?

Another Victoria's Secret Mistake

Oops.. where did the handbag go? Victoria’s Secret photo retoucher on a hurry perhaps?

Happy Time Magazine's Long Mistake

Enhancing a model’s height is ok, but exaggerating it like this is too much! From the likes of Happy Time Magazine the model measures 170cm only with her legs!

Where's the male model's arm?!

This ad is less obvious than others but if you look closer the male model is missing a part of his arm! The elbow is there, the hand is there, but what about the middle?

Uneven hand level

And apparently missing parts of the arm is becoming a trend! Check out this Kellog’s ad.. the model’s hand should almost be attached to her elbow…! ew.

H&M's Excessive tan

We couldn’t possibly leave out swedish brand H&M! This advertising caused many critiques related to the excessive tan featured in this shot. Unfortunately, this wasn’t a photoshop mistake but a reality. It was the brand’s way to sell their new line of bathing suits! Fortunately, H&M apologized and we won’t see any of those baked models anymore!

So photographers, use photoshop carefully! someone out there will be ready to spot your mistakes!
